Paul Barker

Paul Barker is a Computer Systems Engineer with a deep technical knowledge of Linux systems and the Open Source ecosystem. He is an expert in both software development and systems administration and finds an extensive overlap between those two disciplines.

Paul holds a First Class MEng degree in Electronics & Computer Systems Engineering from Loughborough University. The excellent grounding in electronics and low level systems detail that this education provided still holds him in good stead in the world of Embedded Software. Although he rarely uses a soldering iron any longer, he's still adept at reviewing schematics and datasheets for clients.

Prior to starting Beta Five, Paul has held various roles in software engineering, systems administration, research and events. Of all these jobs, it is still the experience gained in live events work at Loughborough Student's Union during and after his degree which he draws on most - managing a small team of technical staff to work safely but quickly in a high-pressure environment is equal to any challenge in the technology industry!
